IMI Training

As part of becoming a Klarius accredited emissions centre, your technicians are eligible for inclusion on the Klarius Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) Emissions Training programme, an exclusive initiative that aims to refresh knowledge on the latest issues shaping the emission control aftermarket.

Level 1 of the course is comprised of 4 modules:

  • Exhausts
  • Catalytic Converters
  • Diesel Particulate Filters
  • Additive Systems

Topics covered in each of these modules include:

  • Failure Modes
  • Component Design
  • Function
  • Good Practice
  • Governing Legislation
  • New Technologies
  • Diagnosis
  • New Developments
  • Environment Issues

The overall aim of the course is to reduce the amount of guesswork taking place in independent garages, to expedite repair and replacement jobs, which then translates to reduced lead times for customers.

Training is delivered by highly qualified Klarius engineers, whose experience in the entire development, production and supply life cycle for emissions components translates into a truly unique insight into these vital systems.

As a fully recognised IMI programme, those who successfully pass the course receive a full industry qualification from the IMI. Furthermore, successful entrants have the opportunity to take part in the forthcoming Level 2 course, which will further explore emissions equipment and fault analysis methodology.

The IMI, the professional institute for technicians working in the motor industry, provides IMI accreditation for educational courses to increase knowledge and quality within the industry, which is closely aligned with Klarius’ proviso of sharing knowledge and providing quality components.

Where can I take part?

Courses are taking place around the country, with varied locations ensuring that all garages in the scheme will have the opportunity to take part with minimal disruption.

Each course lasts 2 days, with a final assessment at the end of the teaching programme in the form of a formal multiple-choice exam.

Garage members will be notified via e-mail of the latest news regarding event locations. For further information, please don’t hesitate to contact Klarius Customer Services at cs.team@klarius.eu or phone +44 (0)1538 752 561.
